I think it’s fascinating that the stars are so useful to non-human creatures. But I guess it shouldn’t be shocking. In nature, the stars are much easier to see without all of our artificial light ruining the view. How many thoughts of years do you think we’ve been using the starts? At least 10,000. And we’re so obsessed with them we’ve got an entire pseudo-religious industry built around their “involvement” in our lives. I’m curious to know what other creatures use the stars to guide themselves. Would they be more likely to be predators, who have better eyesight, or grazing herbivores, who are nomadic foragers?
